Five channel HD video, 2013

Revival, a spirited musical installation is a five-channel performance piece that uses popular music to explore racial identity. As Revival constructs a virtual choir using multiple performers, it reverses a longstanding tradition of mainstream cultural appropriation through music. Inspired by the power of memory, Pinder experiments with the familiarity of popular music to produce videos that act as portraits and reveal the nuances of social conditioning.

As Juke explores the one-on-one connection between the performers and their viewers, Revival uses group dynamics and harmony to deliver a potent message about connectivity through music.
